The smartphone industry is perhaps the most cost-effective in the field of direct consumer sales. People usually change phones practically every year unlike others like computers or tablets that move very slow. Because of this, manufacturers develop and create ridiculous volumes of terminals to market and sell, but have you ever wondered which ones are the most successful?
Gartner, an information technology research firm, conducted a survey of this market and found very interesting data. For example, the sale of smartphones to end users this year reached 380 million units, an increase of 9.1% compared to the same period in 2016. According to Gartner, the increase is due to the disposition of the consumers of telephones Mobile phones to spend more to get a better device, resulting in the average price increase of all types of smartphones.
The study revealed that Chinese companies are consumer favorites, since they often offer excellent manufacturing terminals at a relatively low price compared to their European or American counterparts. In the first quarter of 2017, the share of Chinese companies accounted for 24% of the total smartphone sales market, 7% more than last year.
Samsung in the first place and Apple in second are the 2 companies that have more participation in the market, although the already mentioned Chinese brands like Huawei or Oppo are not so far. However, Samsung still has a lot of room for maneuver (even with the incident of the Galaxy Note 7 flammable), as a combination of virtually all other manufacturers of phones just double the participation of the South Korean company.
Sale of units
Now that we know the market share, it is easier to deduce which are the companies that more number of units market. And yes, as you thought, Samsung is the big winner, because only this first quarter of 2017 has already sold almost 80 million phones. Once again, Apple is left with second place, although quite far, because this room already sold around 50 million iPhones. Finally, Huawei and its flagship P9 / P9 Plus is comfortably in third place, with 34 million units sold so far this year.
